KREGI
The nationwide pilot project KREGI is setting new standards for climate- and resource-friendly commercial areas. KREGI stands for climate and resource efficiency in commercial and industrial areas. Under the leadership of the Factor X Agency of Entwicklungsgesellschaft indeland GmbH and ResScore GmbH, a project team of experts is creating a comprehensive and quantifiable catalog of measures for the planning and construction of resource-efficient commercial areas. With this, KREGI is creating transparency about the impact of measures to improve climate and resource protection for the first time. Depending on the environmental impact of the measures, they are assigned points and brought together in a web application. Through application in partner municipalities in indeland, the new KREGI catalog of measures is being directly tested in practice and can subsequently be applied in all regions of Germany.

The LANDFOLGE Garzweiler special purpose association is supported by the municipalities of Mönchengladbach, Erkelenz, Grevenbroich, Jüchen, Titz, and Bedburg. In cooperation with the city of Mönchengladbach, the Aachen University of Applied Sciences, and other partners, it aims to establish an interdisciplinary network that enables exchange and collaboration on various aspects of sustainable construction. As visible examples, pilot buildings will be constructed on the edge of the open-cast mine by the special purpose association and in the Lürrip district by the city of Mönchengladbach. They are intended to showcase innovative construction products and processes and serve as platforms for knowledge exchange.
Traditionally, the planning and construction of sustainable buildings are based on the three pillars of sustainability: ecology, economy, and social aspects. Taking these into account, as well as the goals of the economic and structural program for the Rhenish future region, five overarching fields of action have been defined for the strategic orientation of the project: Resources & Circularity, Climate Protection, Energy, Comfort & Health, and Cost-Optimized Planning & Construction. They are intended to serve as guidelines for all project activities, especially for the construction of the pilot buildings. A special focus is placed on circular and resource-optimized construction.

BioökonomieREVIER as a model region for sustainable business and innovative circular processes.
New perspectives for the economy, the environment and society – that is what BioökonomieREVIER in the Rhineland region aims to achieve in a time of change. A regional innovation system is to be created that takes up and further develops the region's strengths.
Places with history are thus becoming places of the future – in so-called profile locations where the bioeconomy becomes tangible: such as Bürgewald, the former Morschenich-Alt. With the Agri-Food-Energy Park and the new coordination office, a vibrant center is being created there where agriculture, research and technology jointly advance sustainable solutions.
Thus, the Rhineland region is gradually developing into a beacon for a circular, climate-neutral bioeconomy – with model character far beyond the region. BioökonomieREVIER stands for structural change that conserves resources, involves people and creates new perspectives.
